Join me on my journey
Growing up in a christian home really helped provide and pave the way for me morally and emotionally for many "bump in the road" situations. Some of the most difficult times in my life the constant has been church and my Heavenly Father. Without him none of this would be possible. To this day I give thanks for the gifts He has given me and has made clearer to me through these tough and uncertain times.
My journey with Type 1 Diabetes began back in July of 2020. The morning of July 1, I received a call from the doctor’s office. A call that would change the way I think about myself and health all together. During the last week of June of 2020, I scheduled an appointment to get blood work done. I had many concerning symptoms relating to Type 1 Diabetes; the symptoms showed were: constant thirst, weight loss, and high trace of ketones. With a rough understanding of the symptoms relating to Diabetes my family and I decided to schedule a doctor’s appointment. July 1, 2020 in the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic I received the news over the phone at 8:45 AM that my A1C was 14.6%; officially diagnosing me as an uncontrolled Type 1 Diabetic. My first mental thought was to feel sorry for myself, but, to never give up on myself.
Fitness has been engraved in my brain from the beginning (literally). Some of my earliest memories as a child was sitting in the basement of my childhood home with my father watching him workout and lift weights. Also, the majority of my middle school life I would fall asleep to weight plates sliding on and off of the barbell, because during those days that's how lifts worked for my old man, late at night. The weights clinking together almost became a soothing lullaby to me and still is to this day when I’m racking my own weight. My passion stems from my father and his passion for lifting weights. The rustic EverLast bench still exist to this day and it's the one we both can call the bench we used to be welcomed into the 300 flat bench club.
